The resin we use is natural Damar resin — not the synthetic chemical resins used in industrial glues, coatings, or plastics. Damar resin is a natural hard resin collected from trees in Southeast Asia, mainly from Dipterocarpaceae and Agathis species. In its raw form, it arrives as light yellow or semi-transparent solid pieces, collected from the trees.
In the wax blend, Damar does the structural work: it gives the bar its firmness and that satisfying, tacky hold on your board deck. It is a product of trees, not of a laboratory — and that is exactly the point.
